Cattle homes are set up for disabled animals where they are provided fodder and are looked after. When one thinks of such cattle-homes, he inevitably remembers the name of Sheth Motisha. Motichand, son of Sheth Amichand of Cambay, was businessman and had flourishing shipping business. He spent, as much as he earned, on charities and on philanthropic activities. In Mumbai, dogs were cruelly killed during British Rule. Motisha persuaded governor to put an end to cruelty to dogs. He, at that time, felt the need to provide protection homes for animals and the foundation stone for such a cattle home was laid. In Byclla in Mumbai, he built a temple of Bhagwan Rishabhdev for the benefit of pilgrims of Mumbai, who could not take long painful journey in those days. He started to construct a temple at famous Shatrunjaya Tirth which was completed by his wife Diwaliben after his death. He helped in building famous Godiji Parshwanath temple at Mumbai and many other projects at various places.
